Stanford Avenue Players

We are a drama group within the life and work of Stanford Avenue Methodist Church, formed in 1927. The membership is composed of both church and non church members, and we provide a valuable link into the local community. We have a membership covering all ages and have a wide repertoire of productions such as pantomimes, 3 act plays, musicals, religious plays, and comedies. Sometimes a production might just include adults, sometimes juniors, or a mix of both. We recently hosted a fund raising evening for the church in the form of a “rich man poor man” dinner with entertainment, which was very well acclaimed. We are lucky enough to have our own stage in the hall, with all the associated sound and lighting equipment. We have a great crew backstage but they are always looking for help with scenery, maintenance, props etc. So if you fancy getting involved, without wanting to become a “thespian,” there will still be a welcome for you! We have just started rehearsals for a comedy musical based in the “wild west” which is due to be performed in early July..... more details to follow. Why not come along and see us, we meet on Monday nights in the hall from 7.30pm, whether it be to join in, or just to come and see one of our productions, you will be very welcome.
